- Every time I go to my local computer club meeting and some of the
- younger people (14-18) see what I render in a month, they assume
- my system is pretty gargantuan.
- It always surprises them when they find out I've got as much memory
- as them, 2M chip 4Mfast, and their software (like imagine3) tells
- them politely to buy more mem or bust.
-
- Without failing it is always the same problem, when I mosy over
- to their computer, 8 or 16 color magicWB's glare at me. What
- posesses these people to waste anything from 0.5 to 1 meg on
- backdrops, noises and fance system patches(sensless colored
- pull down menus). It's no wonder half their software doesn't
- run anymore, it lookes like they're running bloody windows95
- for crying(out loud).
-
- So the first thing I fixed has nothing to do with that
- take a look in your ramdisk after startup using a file-
- manager (like Dir-opus), what's there: AAARGH (yes?).
- So I loaded in my startup-sequence and assigned ENV:
- to use sys:prefs/env-archive/ as a dumpsite instead
- (that is where it gets it's junk in the first place).
-
- The second thing is to use (and live with) a 4 color WB a sad
- thing indead but my Eric-Schwartz'-Squirrels-on-Intel-outside-
- logo-bench more than makes up for this and my toolbar reads
- 2000000+ chip and 4000000+ fast every time.
